Why Podcasts? Podcast audiences are growing, Apple Podcasts features more than 500,000 active podcasts, including content in more than 100 languages. People enjoy receiving information in a number ways and listening to healthcare professionals, people living with diabetes and associated lifestyle trainers gives a new perspective to improving diabetes self-management skills.
Why now? The technology has improved rapidly in recent years and the ability to upload and share relevant content is so much easier, likewise people have quick and easy access to their favourite podcast through a number of channels, be it Apple, Spotify or many others. With earphones and iPods people can listen on the move or at home relaxing at their own pace.
Who are they aimed at? As with all DRWF diabetes communications, the podcasts are for anyone living with diabetes, their friends, family and carers to hopefully learn more about Living with Diabetes and improve self-management skills and confidence.
In the first of the series, listen to the charity’s CEO Sarah Tutton introducing the charity and the research and education it undertakes. She is joined by volunteer Lionel Curtis who elaborates on how he works with DRWF. Then diabetologist Dr Myank Patel talks about DRWF’s Diabetes Wellness Day South event. And feet are in focus in the Staying Well feature with podiatrist Graham Bowen.
