Partha Kar and James Norton chat on JDRF’s Instagram account.

At 7pm on Tuesday 9 June as part of Diabetes Week, Actor James Norton (Happy Valley, Grantchester, War and Peace, McMafia), took over JDRF’s Instagram account to help raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes. Norton, who has Type 1 is a JDRF Ambassador and regularly speaks out about the condition and how it affects him. On the night, he will open up about managing his Type 1 in Hollywood – and in lockdown – including his experience of bouncing back from ‘diabetes burnout’.

Also appearing is NHS England’s clinical lead for Type 1 diabetes, Professor Partha Kar who lead a Q&A session with the actor via which the community can ask questions live on Instagram.

Norton says, He said: “I didn’t talk about my diabetes when I was first diagnosed but when I started to, more and more, I felt relief. Once I did, I realised lots of people are dealing with it too. There is an amazing community […] you can talk to now, compare notes with and feel a sense of solidarity alongside them.”
