Competitive sports and diabetes

Are you aged between 8 and 21 years? Do you have Type 1 Diabetes? Are you a competitive athlete? If so, you might be interested in a ‘competitive sports and type 1 diabetes’ event being held at the Lace Conference Centre in Liverpool on 17 November.

The event aims to inspire and inform young athletes with Type 1 Diabetes through workshops, presentations and an opportunity to meet others.

There will be a talk on ‘Competing with Type 1 Diabetes’ by Kate Evans of pro Cyclist Team Novo Nordisk. In addition, Francesca Annan, a Paediatric Diabetes and Sports Dietitian from Alder Hey Hospital will be talking about

‘Sports Nutrition and Diabetes’. There’s also a talk on ‘Fuelling your ambitions: Using CGMS during exercise by Dr Bill Lamb.

Places are free for all young people with Type 1 Diabetes and 1 adult accompanying under 18s. The event has been sponsored by Novo Nordisk which has funded the venue, refreshments.
