December 2010 newsletter Kit: Being a little Discreet

Finnish company Mendor, has launched a revolutionary all-in-one blood glucose monitor called the Discreet meter. Complete with a European Conformity mark (CE Mark), the Mendor Discreet blood glucose meter is the first product of its kind in Europe to be granted clinical approval having undergone extensive testing.

It contains all the necessary components: meter, strips and lancing device in an integrated, all-in-one device. They have seen the increasing number of young people who are developing diabetes being attracted to the new meter (“the MP3 player of blood glucose monitors”).

The meter underwent rigorous independent testing at Finland’s largest private Diabetes clinic in Helsinki and results demonstrated that, not only did it meet and exceed ISO 15197 requirements, but also that 92% of users preferred it to their current blood glucose meter. The involvement of healthcare professionals was also key in inspiring them to come up with their design approach and the idea of new web based software for the analysis of measurements also emerged from this research.
