This online tool developed by the Canadian Diabetes Association allows users to learn at their own pace as education is key when it comes to diabetes. With more than 3 million Canadians living with diabetes and a further 6 million with prediabetes, the Canadian Diabetes Association is committed to providing the necessary resources for individuals to make informed decisions about their health. The Association has designed a new online resource called the Healthy Living Series, which includes four interactive learning modules.
“The Healthy Living Series is an enhanced online equivalent of the Association’s previously known Learning Series. The advantage of this online resource is that it can be accessed at any time of the day and individuals can learn valuable diabetes information at their own pace,” said Anna Kennedy, Interim President & CEO, Canadian Diabetes Association. “We encourage individuals across Canada to utilize this online resource and take charge of their health.”
The four learning modules of the Healthy Living Series include:
What is Diabetes?
This module provides an overview of the different types and symptoms of diabetes including the associated risks.
This module provides an in-depth look at diabetes management, through blood glucose management, preventative care and information on who to turn to for help.
Small Changes for Healthy Living
This module provides an overview of the importance of living healthy with diabetes and the small changes you can make each day to reach your goals.
The Canadian Diabetes Association
This module provides an overview of the Canadian Diabetes Association and its various diabetes support programs and services.
Minimum requirements for these learning modules are Adobe Flash 9.x, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Sound Card on either a PC or MAC.
Production of this online resource was made possible through a financial contribution from the Public Health Agency of Canada.
