Diabetes UK
Desang Ltd is a partner of Diabetes UK. For every kitbag sold in association with Diabetes UK Desang Limited will pay £1 to Diabetes UK Services Limited which donates its taxable profits to Diabetes UK (Registered charity number 215199).
Desang director Sue Marshall says, ‘One of the great benefits of being a member of Diabetes UK is the chance to read Balance, the bi-monthly lifestyle magazine for people with diabetes. It has all the latest news and research on diabetes, plus celebrity interviews, recipes and lots of other interesting articles. It manages to be both serious, sensible and entertaining and educational and I look forward to each issue.’
Balance is free of charge to members of Diabetes UK and is also available from newsagents. In order to apply the £1 donation, tick the box ‘I found out about kitbags via Diabetes UK’ on the order page. The £1 is donated by Desang Limited and is not taken from your payment for the kitbag.”

MEDIPAL medical ID cards
We are extremely pleased to be able to tell you that we have been working with a company called MediPAL to bring you a medical ID card and have arranged a 10% discount to Desang members (see end for promo code).
The MediPAL ID card is a distinctive, credit-card-sized card made from hard-wearing plastic. It displays your medical details as well as your name and a contact telephone number. MediPAL is easily recognisable with a green cross on the card which you carry in your wallet or purse at all times and can be used as an Emergency ID Card or an Emergency Contact Card. All 31 UK ambulance trusts are aware of the service.
The MediPAL card shows:
• A distinctive Green Cross
• Name
• DOB
• Emergency contact details
• Current Medication
• Medical history (including allergies)
• Blood group
• GP Details
To purchase a card, contact Medipal on 0845 603 4604 and ask for an application form. Mention Promotion Code Desang01 when you call so that you receive the 10% discount.
How did MediPAL start? It all came about after the founder of the company suffered a stroke followed by a Triple Heart Bypass. He used to carry all his medical details around on an increasingly tatty piece of paper until he had a great idea. Why not have a small, credit-card-sized medical ID card which carried the important details of his medical history as well as a list of all the medication he had to take? And that’s how MediPAL was born.

The Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation (DRWF)
The Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation (DRWF) was established to assist in the relief of persons with diabetes and to raise awareness about diabetes and its associated complications.
DRWFs main objective is ’staying well until a cure is found’ and in furtherance of this aim, provides support to those with diabetes by way of a ’Diabetes Wellness Network.
The Wellness Network was founded because people with diabetes have to make decisions about their general health as well as their diabetes. The Network aims to help people with diabetes deal with these problems, whilst bearing in mind their diabetic condition.

Diabetes.co.uk
This is a commercial website that has no limits on what it can load, which means it has a lot of useful information on it! Many UK sites are run by charities or other organisations that shy away from listing products in order to avoid being seen to be endorsing them. But that means that people with diabetes have no where to go (apart from our site) to find out what’s ‘out there’. The site at diabetes.co.uk has no such limitations.
Take a look at their forum at: www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes-forum/
