Medtronic Paradigm Veo insulin pump

The Paradigm Veo System combines an insulin pump with continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). The CGM takes the form of a separate sensor and transmitter to the pump itself, but readings go from the CGM to the pump prior to insulin delivery. Readings from the sensor as well as occasional ordinary blood tests to program the insulin pump to deliver the appropriate amount of insulin. With the Veo, if data transmitted from the sensor shows that the your  glucose levels have dropped below a defined threshold, the insulin pump automatically suspends insulin delivery for up to two hours helping to avoid hypos. This is particularly helpful for those who have hypo-unawareness.

Paradigm Veo System includes an insulin pump, a glucose sensor and a transmitter, integrating Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion (CSII) with Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM). However, the Paradigm Veo insulin is also available to use without the glucose sensor and transmitter. The system comes in five colour options with a range of accessories and adhesive SKINs to cover the insulin pump which allow patients to personalise their device.

“automatically halt your insulin delivery when your glucose levels are too low to help to reduce the risk of severe hypoglycaemia”

Desang Diabetes Magazine is our free-to-receive digital journal (see below). We cover diabetes news, diabetes management equipment (diabetes ‘kit’ such as insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring equipment) and news about food suitable for a diabetic diet including a regular Making Carbs Count column.
