DRWF and the University of Greenwich are working collaboratively to hold the next DRWF Diabetes Wellness Day at the University of Greenwich on Saturday, 16th April 2011 between 9am-4pm with an additional, optional public lecture taking place from 4.30 – 5.30pm, called ‘Diabetes-Related Hilarity’ with Oliver Double, senior lecturer in Drama, University of Kent.
During the day, there will be an opportunity to listen to and take part in a variety of talks and workshops focusing on different aspects of living with diabetes. The sessions will be delivered by experts in the field of diabetes and related healthcare. There will be an exhibition area, where delegates will be able to talk to representatives from a variety of local and national organisations, including support groups, diagnostic companies and diet and nutrition specialists.
The programme for the day includes a talk on ‘Diabetes and heart health’ by Linda Main from the charity Heart UK and a talk on the ‘Glycaemic Index’ by Azmina Govindji, Registered Dietitian and TV Nutritionist.
Also on the agenda are exercise specialists Alison Smith from Tai Chi for Everyone and Mark Sillett from Nordic Walking.
There is a small registration fee of £5 per person to help DRWF cover the costs of the event. The cost includes the full day’s programme, lunch, refreshments and parking.
