Lodge donation to Musgrove Park Hospital for diabetes care

Charlie Barker of The Richard Huish Masonic Lodge has presented a cheque for over £600 to the Josh Evans Fund, a local charity that works with Musgrove Park Hospital and others to help children with diabetes.

Michelle Gardiner, Children’s Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist said “We are very grateful to Charlie and all who helped raise this fantastic amount and to the Josh Evans Fund for their continued support. The money will be used to help fund a residential activity weekend for children with diabetes in 2011. This is a great opportunity for children with diabetes to spend time with each other having fun and sharing experiences of life with diabetes!”

Charlie said “I was the Master of the Lodge in 2009 and so Karin, my wife, got to choose the charity for the year. We unequivocally chose the Josh Evans Fund because of the work they do for young diabetes sufferers with Musgrove and because Michelle has been an absolute star to and for our family since our son Alex was diagnosed in 2003. This £600 is the proceeds from a Ladies Lunch we organised.”
