October 2010 newsletter kit: Measuring cups

Measure for measure: Measuring cups from Tala are an easy, fuss-free way to weigh out portions, helping you to avoid the perils of ‘portion distortion’. These are in actual ‘cup’ sizes, ranging from ¼ cup to 1/3 cup, ½ cup and 1 cup. While more often used in America these days, using a cup to measure out ingredients or portions goes way back in time so is a time-honoured way to keep measurements accurate (and fair, if you’re trying to make portions even). Dishwasher safe, they’re attached via ring but are easy to take on and off so you can use an individual cup and not have the whole bunch clattering around. Also good for teaching children a little bit about carb-counting and portions. Available from many kitchen and cookware stores for around £5.00 and from manufacturers www.george-east.com

Desang Diabetes Magazine is our free-to-receive digital journal (see below).
